extreme trip

I just got back last night from almost a week trip to Aspen, Colorado. WHEW! I was glad to be back home..but it was also probably a once in a lifetime trip. I am wrapping up my time at Red Bull so this was probably my last big event to work at. I couldn't have asked for a more exciting opportunity. The XGames are extreme and super fun to watch.

I made sure to document as much as I could and below are some photos from my trip. I figured pictures are better than a lot of explanation!

On the drive to Aspen.

Red Bull Firetruck
Welcome to the Winter XGames
Where all the action was happening!

Red Bull Energy Station (this is where we worked at the games)
This is inside of the energy station where we held a lot of athlete signings. It was a suh-weet hang out place with a 3D TV, video games, bar complete with Red Bull to get some wiiings before skiing, and Levi LaValle's world record breaking snowmobile to take a picture on. It was a good time.
Sean Pettit with some of the girls.

Scenic Cruiser with some of the girls!
I had an awesome time but I was so so happy to get back home to the huzzy and our pup. They both picked me up at the airport. I have to say though that this has been the most fun job ever. I'm super blessed.
Hope your Tuesday is off to a GREAT start!

a weekend in dallas

We visited Dallas for a college friends wedding and while I was there I got to go with Lauren to try on wedding dresses. This was her first time since she just got engaged. It was a good start to her dress hunt..and every single dress looked good on her. I swear. I can't wait to see what she ends up wearing on their big day!

On Saturday evening we went to the wedding at a beautiful church in downtown Dallas. The reception was then at a very modern venue close to the church downtown. It was fun and so beautiful. I especially enjoyed the wedding sermon. Marriage is a big freakin' deal and I loved that their wedding really focused on their relationship with each other and God. Every time I go to a wedding now, I always wish I could go back in time to my wedding day. It is the most perfect and beautiful day.
I loved this picture frame at the reception. I am glad that we had the chance to be there to support our friends as they begin married life.
Sunday, after church, Austin and I wanted to stop by ikea before heading out of town. I love that place. But I lost Austin like 2,325 times and of course he never answered his phone. Lauren and I often found Sean and Austin like this. I swear they tested out every couch, chair, and bed in the whole store.

Lauren and I both love the farmhouse sinks. And you can buy them at ikea!! Here she is saying, "welcome to my home." haha
And here is Austin trying to make me lay on another ikea bed with him. I can't blame him, a lot of those bedrooms in ikea were just calling me to lay on them after all the walking we did that day.
It was such a fun weekend in Dallas. Although, I don't think we will be moving there anytime soon (I think I would spend too much money with all of the good shopping there) I sure do love being with my best friends.

Have a great week!

my best friends engaged!

This weekend was full of fun, celebration, and close friends. My best friend, Lauren, got engaged on Friday night.
At our graduation May 2011. I don't know why this photo always makes me tear up!

Bridesmaid!
Lauren is just one of those friends that, no matter where we are in life or how far away we live from each other, when we spend time together it's like "old times" every time. While I wish we lived closer and saw each other more often I always know she is just a phone call away.

Sean and Lauren at our wedding! Good looking couple!

Her fiance had been talking to me and another one of our friends about it to make sure it all panned out. See, she was planning on being in Norman Friday night, but Sean needed a reason for her not to come until Saturday. Our friend Stephanie took care of that and the proposal went off without a hitch! The pictures are just precious! Anyways, we got to celebrate with them when they came to Norman Saturday. We hung out in the afternoon, had dinner at in the raw, desserts and champagne at our casa, and then headed out to McNellies afterwards!
Toasts to the engaged couple!
Girlfriends! This was at the end of the night.
I am so excited not only for Lauren but Stephanie as well as they begin to plan their weddings and prepare for a marriage that will last a lifetime. Preparing for marriage to my hubs went by too fast..I wish we could do it all over again! I'm glad that I get to be apart of something so special (best. day. ever.) for my best friends.

Cheers!

cherry on top

When we moved to OKC in November we loved going from a tiny tiny loft apartment to a 1300 square foot duplex. BUT although I drive around OKC frequently for work we just weren't sure where things were. Like the nearest Wal-Mart or the nice Target...where is hobby lobby or a fabric store?! These are essential! After a few months we are finally finding out where these places are.
On New Years Eve we happened upon something that made us both giddy! A Braums..in our neighborhood!! So much for New Years resolutions. We can literally just drive through our neighborhood to get there and presto we have ice cream. This is a wonderful but very bad thing at the same time. Now, growing up I liked ice cream but it wasn't until Austin came along that I really started to love it. This summer, after we got married, we constantly ate ice cream. When our AC went out we just set in our apartment trying to stay cool, eating ice cream haha! We love it. Do yourself a favor and go buy some homestyle vanilla...it will change your life.

We had to take a picture to remember finding the Braums on NYE!
Finding this Braums was the cherry on top of a great New Years Eve. Our first as a married couple. Looking forward to many more with the hubs.
Hope you're having a lovely weekend.
Eat some ice cream. ;)

New Year

New Year...New Blog!

I created a new blog as I am 7 months into transitioning from single to married. (I can't believe it's already been 7 months!) And now I am transitioning from college student to graduate and trying to find my place in Oklahoma City. 2011 sure was a busy year for us. Hubs and I made the move to Oklahoma City in November because we were looking for a bigger place and a change of scenery. So life in the 405 is something we are trying to build together as a new "home." I've been in a weird place after my best friend moved away after college and all of my family is in Tulsa or Atlanta. And we were so busy this last semester even the hubs and I hardly had time for each other. However, I see a change of pace coming and I'm excited (wherever we end up) to build a home with my man.

Our first little Christmas tree in our new place.
I will admit that our new home is feeling cozy. The only thing missing is guests. I need to throw a party. I need to invite people over. And now that I'm finally done with my internship I am hoping to have more time for things like that. With friends getting married soon I am hoping to find plenty of excuses for parties. And the little sis is hopefully coming this way for college next year! ;)

This blog is a way for Austin and I to share the new and fun things going on in our lives and our adventures in the 405. Cheers to a new year! I think it's going to be a pretty fabulous one!

Here is our happy little family on Christmas day! We are so lucky
that both of our families live in the same town and we were able to
spend time with both.
